How I Style… Wood Watches

I would say I am more classic and traditional when it comes to accessories. I’m not one to wear overly flashy jewels but I do have a soft spot for rose gold. I was so over joyed when Jord Watches contacted me and wanted to work with me on this Campaign.

Before you take a peek at how I styled my Jord Watch, a little info about my Campaign with them.

So, onto styling…

My gorgeous watch is made of dark sandalwood and has rose gold elements on the face of the time piece. I am so obsessed with this watch because it’s easy to dress up and down, which in my mind makes it the perfect accessory.

Here is a detailed shot of the “Frankie” wood watch from Jord. I dressed it up on my Birthday with some rose gold flats and a rose gold outfit. The wood watch brought everything together.

Here is a link to the watch:

In the next outfit, I used it as a minimal accessory with a beach outfit for a day in Malibu. The wood is a perfect nautical touch in my opinion and the watch was classy enough to dine out for a nice lunch at Malibu farms.

I am honestly so happy Nicole at Jord reached out to me. I am stunned at the craftsmanship of my watch and the small price. Jord Wood Watches is definitely taking steps to prove you can get outstanding, quality products for a low rate. Jord is a perfect gift for not only yourself, but for a significant other as well, as they carry Men’s, Women’s, and Neutral watches!

Don’t forget to follow Jord Watches on Instagram and head over to their website to find the perfect watch for you or a loved one.,%7B%7D%7C,%7B%7D%7C,%7B%7D%7C,%7B%7D%7C

All About Me

Hey Readers,

I just wanted to jump on here and do an updated All About Me!

Hey, Hi, my name is Chloe S. I am 20 years old and I live in Sacramento, California. I started my blog about 3 years ago, this March🎉 and I have been writing ever since. I used to do a little bit of freelance modeling here and there but what never wavered was my love for writing. Combine the two, and there you have it, a Blogger.

I love writing about subjects I have a passion for, wether its Cooking, Relationships, Fashion, Lifestyle, Home Decor and so much more. I am mom to a little black holland lop named Ninja, and 2 succulents. I am a MAJOR foodie and I love cooking in my free time. I am currently about to start Cosmetology School which is so exciting for someone who loves hair as much as I do (weird right?), in all honesty, it’s mostly about helping people feel their best. If I can make someone’s day by doing their hair and makeup, good luck to anyone who tries to stop me.

I run a separate Instagram called Sacramento Blogger Collective which I started a year ago. My goal was to connect all the local blogger and influencers in my area with small businesses and photographers to promote local collaboration. I think social media is such a powerful tool when used correctly in a positive manner and I am trying my best to do just that.

Come say Hey to me on Instagram, I am always on there and love to meet new people, or just to stay updated on my Blog posts.

Can’t wait to hear from you!

Stay Trendy,

Summer OOTD

So as the days get warmer I find myself favoring comfort over style, but I don’t want to have to give up style for comfort. As I’ve gotten older I realize you don’t have to, you just have to know what to shop for.

I put together this outfit a few weeks back and it was comfortable, cute and can be used day and night. You can wear this to a morning farmers market, or to an early evening dinner, like I did.

I paired a breezy linen midi dress from urban outfitters with some metallic rose gold flats that I thrifted in April.

I added a hat from target and some quay glasses to finish off the look.

Linen is great to keep you cool as it gets hotter and a wide brim had is not only trendy as heck but will keep your face and shoulders out of the sun.

As much as I love heels, I’ve been only into mules lately as they are classy and on trend, yet so easy to slip on and leave you without foot pain later on.

My Netflix recommendations

What you should watch, ASAP!

I am an avid Netflix user, like I really get my money’s worth. I get invested into a show and I don’t stop until I’ve binge-watched the whole series or finished it and whined that a new season isn’t out yet. I have mentioned before I am quite the show snob, and a lover of historical dramas, so there are a few in here, and some comedies as well. I hope you find some new binge-worthy shows. Happy watching!

1. The Crown

A retelling of the early life and making of Queen Elizabeth II. They really dive into her personal relationships and how it was for her acting as queen. MAJOR PLUS: Matt Smith as young Prince Phillip. Mmm. History Nerds WYA?

2. Scandal

Washington D.C Politicians that are very scandalous, it’s all about the people who make those scandals disappear. And a very, very scandy, and heartbreaking, love triangle. MAJOR PLUS: Scott Foley and Uhhhh, yeah just Scott Foley.

3. On My Block

The most realistic show I have watched about teenagers in a while. All of these teen shows depict teens at these grand parties and they’re all rich and everyone is happy and chad finally wins over Jessica. You know? It’s boring. This is real, about real heartbreak, betrayal, and situations people actually go through. It’s raw, with a hint of comedy. 11/10 recommend.

4. MadMen

I am obsessed with the 1950’s/60’s. This show really feeds my curiosity. From the fashion, the inside of everyday couples marriages, to people of the times’ irrational fear of ”The Bomb”. It is very fascinating. Granted it is slightly annoying due to the extremely misogynistic nature of ALL the men in the show, but again, it was the 50’s.

5. Peaky Blinders

British Gangsters. Guns. Money. Horse racing. British countryside. Cillian Murphy. What more could you ask for in a show? Oh yeah, it’s the 1920’s post WWI, and Blitz. Again, this is one for my history lovers.

Simple Spring Tea Cake

So over winter break I purchased two silicone mini Bundt pans at JoAnn’s on a Christmas sale. I tucked them away, busy with the holiday and then accidentally totally forgot about them. I was doing a cabinet clean out as a part of my spring cleaning and low and behold there they were in the back of the cabinet behind the Tupperware. I knew I had to use them right away, so I quickly whipped up these little tea Bundt cakes. they were so easy and turned out super yummy. They are light and fluffy and the perfect size for everyone in your family to have a little personal Bundt cake, or several all to yourself.

You can order yourself a couple of these amazing pans here: Wilton Silicone Mini Bundt pans

Now onto the recipe…

Simple Spring Tea Cake

  • 1 box of Pillsbury White cake
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 4 egg whites
  • 3 tablespoons of vanilla
  • 1/2 cup of melted butter
  • 2 cups of powder sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of vanilla
  • 2 strawberries

Start by pre heating the oven to 350 degrees. Now, add the dry mix into a bowl and then stir in the milk, butter and vanilla. The recipe on the box calls for water, and oil, but trust me, this is how you make a box mix taste great. Mix these ingredients until it is a smooth batter. Next separate the 4 egg whites from the yolks and then add them into your batter. Stir the egg whites in thoroughly until they are completely combined. Now that you have finished the batter you can take is and pour it into each little Bundt round filling it about 2/3 full. The amazing thing about these pans is since they are silicone, there is no need to spray, butter, or flour them in advance, you just bake them and then pop them out. Now, put them in the oven and cook for 21 minutes, and when you see them get a little golden brown on the top, that’s how you know they are done. Let them cool for 10 minutes, flip the trey over onto a cooling rack and carefully pop each one out of the tray.

While the cakes were cooling I went ahead and added my powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together in a bowl to create the icing. Once the cakes are cool you can drizzle the icing over the cakes, or take a mini Bundt, flip it over, and dip it into the bowl so the whole top is evenly coated in icing, like I did.

I served mine with sliced strawberries and vanilla ice cream. They were a post dinner hit and super easy to make. I know these will be a go to treat for me to bake all spring and summer. Bundt cakes are so versatile and you can make so many cake and frosting flavor combinations. I hope you found this helpful, and easy.

Thanks for cooking with me!

Spring #OOTD

Hello! Today I wanted to share a little outfit of the day with you guys. I wore this ensemble on a breezy spring day about my town. I am wearing a blue checkered vintage sheath cut dress that I purchased at a consignment store. Over top, I wore a light, white, cable knit sweater from American Eagle for warmth. For shoes I am wearing simple nude heels, and added a simple ballet pink tote from Nine West. Finally I accessorized the outfit with a pearl necklace and dainty pearl earrings, and last but surely not least my Kiel James Patrick Navy Blue “North Star” rope bracelet.

This outfit is perfect for a spring day because, spring is that time of the season where it can be freezing in the morning and then hot by noon, and having the sweater to layer over the dress is a staple for navigating the sudden temperature changes of the season. I love mixing patterns in the spring and summer, and the cable knit and the blue gingham print worked great together. Then by adding the elements of the minimal bag, minimal shoes, and minimal jewelry, it all really pulled the outfit together in my opinion.

I simply loved this outfit and will definitely be wearing these pieces over and over again throughout spring and summer this year. I hope you pulled inspiration from my outfit of the day, and I’ll talk to you in my next post!

Stay Trendy.

Kentucky Derby Outfits

Hello lovely people! I think we can all agree besides the blooming flowers, and warm, sunny days, nothing signifies spring more than the Kentucky Derby! The Kentucky Derby dates back to the early 1900’s when members of the upper class would gather at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky to watch horses race, place bets, and admire each other dressed in a mass of pastels, mixed prints, and outrageous hats.

I created two looks inspired by this springtime affair. I hope you gather some inspiration from these ensembles for a show-stopping spring outfit, or a Derby outfit of your own if you plan on attending the event this year.

The dress I am wearing I thrifted and it is from London Times. It is a mini dress, that is lace and is pastel yellow.

The hat is a DIY that I made. This hat is neat because I also thrifted the actual hat itself and added ribbon and flowers to it myself. The that is a classic Kentucky Derby style that, but the entire thing is made of gold wiring. I adorned it with a super cute yellow gingham ribbon and beautiful, faux white, pink, yellow flowers and a few single white feathers. This whole DIY that was very easy to make and turned out so cute and perfect for a day at the derby. Lastly, I finished off the entire look with Pearl earrings, a Pearl necklace, a Pearl bracelet, and Nude heels.

The next and final look starts off with this beautiful peach dress from Calvin Klein. It is all crochet lace and has a gold zipper on the back. I love this dress because it is a classic sheath style and gives me a great shape. This light Brown hat is from JCrew and I also added some beautiful faux peonies and green leaves to this one as well as a dainty pink lace ribbon.

Finally I finished off the look with a pearl bracelet and these gorgeous mint colored jewel earrings from Kitsch LA. Definitely go follow their Instagram to shop more of their gorgeous jewelry! @mykitsch

I hope you loved these outfits and hats as much as I enjoyed putting them together! I’ll talk to you in my next post!

19 Things I have learned in 19 years.

As tomorrow is my birthday, I wanted to share with everyone 19 Things I have learned by 19, and little tips for happiness.

This post is special to me, as I love sharing my knowledge with others because you never know how what you know, will influence or impact another person. As I have had many friends and family members share their knowledge of life with me, I’d like to start doing the same.

So Enjoy!

19 Things I have learned in 19 years

1. Minimalism makes for a clear mind. Try it out.

2. Always trust your gut. Secret… *It is actually your brain guiding you.*

3. If you have the opportunity to do something that you don’t normally get to do, do it!

4. Take more photos of you, your family, and your friends. They will be wonderful memories later in life.

5. Travel as much as you can. Even if it’s just an hour out of your town. Take a camera and a map and just drive.

6. Try to do things that scare you more often. I am still working on this one, it is hard, but I know the results will make me such a strong person.

7. Don’t change your direction in life for another person. If you have goals and dreams, execute them, you might regret it later if you don’t.

8. If you know you’re not happy with something, change it. You have control over your thoughts and actions. Find what does makes you happy, then indulge.

9. Rid of any negativity surrounding you mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.

10. Hug your family members as much as you can.

11. Try cutting out a specific time slot in the day where you check your phone, and then don’t pick it up after that. It has been hard but now I have a whole day with lots of time to do whatever I want to do.

12. Take regular walks in nature to reconnect with your surroundings. You can’t experience nature through a screen.

13. It’s okay to eat the extra cookie.

14. Try and build some routine in your day to day life. Good habits are good for the soul.

15. You don’t have to go to the club every Friday. Movies at home with popcorn and the puppy are just as fun. Take some time for your self and just relax.

16. Speaking of relaxing, go buy yourself a massage or two. Trust me, it’s life changing.

17. Don’t compare yourself to other people. Cliché, I know. But it is so freeing once you consciously stop. Sometimes we don’t even think about it when we do it. You are you. Love yourself for who you are.

18. Read. Read books that bring you joy, read books you’ve never heard of, read books on math, theoretical physics, and books written by Buddhist Monks. You’re brain is a sponge, so read and teach yourself as much as you possibly can. Even if that book is a cook book.

19. Finally, You don’t know everything. A hard pill to swallow, but that’s okay. You’re still learning, and you will continue to learn as you grow and continuously better yourself.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and as much as I enjoyed writing it. It made me very happy and I hope it made you happy as well. Thank you for reading this post, and now that you have implemented #18 already, Go try another number!

Music Playlist // Current Favorite Songs

With each month that passes, we have artists coming out with new content and new songs hitting the radio. I love finding new songs that I haven’t heard on the radio, and new artist that I didn’t know existed. I just love when that happens. Most of you know, but if you don’t, let me tell you, snapchat is a life saver. Whenever I’m out and I hear a song and I don’t know who the artist is I just whip out snapchat and hold the screen down and Shazam will tell me the song and the artist. I have found so many new favorite songs and bands that way. Also, Spotify is great at promoting and playing music that I haven’t heard yet and I usually end up loving all of its suggestions.

I have noticed lately that my music taste has been leaning towards songs with Rock and Roll influences. Not fully, but a little bit of classic and indie rock with a touch of bluegrass. I also have been loving alternative music and alternative rock. Pretty much meaning, stuff that doesn’t play on the radio. Don’t get me wrong, I love some good radio hits, but it’s usually the same popular twenty songs being cycled over and over and it can get very boring very fast. I hope you find some new favorite songs or artists from this list that I put together for you.

Now to my favorite songs

  • Lost in your Love – Colyer
  • Only Angel – Harry Styles
  • Bad Karma – Ida Maria
  • Mountain Man – Crash Kings
  • Barton Hollow – The Civil Wars
  • Blood in the Cut – K. Flay
  • Out for You – Colyer
  • No good – Kaleo
  • Best the Devils Tattoo – BRMC
  • In one ear – Cage the Elephant
  • The Ringer – Colyer
  • Wow – Beck
  • Whiskey Fever – Dorothy
  • Southern Gothic – Tyminski
  • Kiwi – Harry Styles
  • Enough – Colyer
  • My Sharona – The Knack

Also guys, please make sure to check out Colyer, one of my favorite artists. He is so talented and deserves so much recognition. The song I linked below is one of his newest singles and is already a classic, he also has so much other good music out, so… go check him out!
