Valentines Day Outfit Ideas

❤️❤️❤️

Hello Lovers, Happy almost Valentines Day! I figured I would give you this post of Outfit Ideas a week early so you have a little time to curate an ensemble for next week. Since Valentine’s Day is on a Wednesday, I created 3 looks. One for the office, one for a date, and one for a night out with the girls.

This office appropriate look is cute enough go to wear out and appropriate enough to wear to the work place.

The red blouse is Anne Taylor with black buttons. Since it is sheer I just put a black half tank under it. The houndstooth skirt is from Forever 21. I paired it with some chunky black heeled booties from Target.

The next outfit is great for a date with your significant other. It is a red dress from 1. State, and I paired it with a vintage Leather Moto Jacket and plain black heels.

The next, and final outfit is prefect for going out with your girlfriends, I simply just switched the leather jacket for a light grey sweater embellished with giant red lips from H&M.

I hope you get some inspiration for the perfect Valentine’s Day Outfit and have a happy Valentine’s Day loves!

❤️❤️❤️

Style Steal – Kendall Jenner Street Style

IMG_0428

Supermodel off duty looks have been a go to outfit choice for a long time because usually everything being worn is on top trend, or is top designer. This outfit that I found Kendall wearing is something that I would wear in my Day to Day life, so I had to re create it. She was out grabbing juice in Beverly Hills the day this outfit was worn.

She is seen wearing white alligator ankle boots from The Row, priced at a steep $7,500. I am all for a cute ankle boot, but $7,500? Really? But she is Kendall Jenner, so…

She pairs them with some baggy denim mom jeans, with ripped ankles.

She is wearing a Black bralette as the main event, and to complete the outfit she is wearing a distressed and destroyed vintage Metallica Ride the Lighting oversized band T-shirt. Being a big fan of Metallica, I couldn’t find the heart to purchase a vintage T-shirt and just rip it to shreds, so I just purchased a random oversized black printed T-shirt.

So, I recreated this outfit easily, with two items that I already had, and a fun little DIY.

I went to the thrift store and purchased an oversized black star wars shirt and simply cut the same inverted triangle shape under the collar down to about the upper abdominal area. I paired it with a black lace bralette from Olivaceous La.

For jeans I went with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans from American Eagle. For shoes I went with my favorite pair of black ankle booties, that are patent leather from Charming Charlie’s and accessorized with a simple pair of blue reflective aviator style sunnies.

Capsule Wardrobe

So you want to minimize your closet?

It’s daunting I know, trust me, I know. Being a blogger of Fashion and Beauty, I used to think I needed to have all the latest, trendiest pieces in my wardrobe, all the time. That can become hectic. I have always found tranquility in minimalism, as have thousands of other people. There are many factors that go into minimalism; practicing minimalism; being a minimalist, and one of those factors is that less is always more.

Less is always more.

It might be hard to grasp (when it comes to clothing) so I’ll break it down.

Example:

Over packing becomes Under packing.

How can you fit 200 outfits into 1 suitcase?

It is almost like an equation, but follow it carefully and you will an have unlimited amount of possibilities (in outfit choices).

If you pack 8 Skirts & 8 Tops that can all be interchanged, well that is already 64 different outfits.

If you stick to BWNGNG (black, white, navy, grey, nude, green), the ROYGBV of the neutral world, that is already 6 Top options, and then 2 other Tops, say Stripes and another classic print or logo top.

Bottoms: 8 Skirts

Add to your suitcase, the variables of 1 knit shrug, 1 cardigan, & 1 blazer, you have just increased the number of choices from 64 to 192.

That’s not including Shoes, Sunglasses, Hays, Belts, & Scarves, Ect.

Example 2:

Clear your closet.

No I don’t mean throw your wardrobe out, I mean clear it. Clear it of things you don’t ever wear, or haven’t worn in the last 6 months, of tacky, loud prints and colors. Keep it clean, simple, and classic.

You can follow this list from WhoWhatWear.com

I hope you utilize these tips, and this list on compact wardrobes and use them to create your own Capsule Wardrobe.

My Travel Bucket List + a peek into the past

When I was about 4, my mother and I moved to England. Though I was very young and the memories have mostly all faded away, lately I have been remembering things from our time there. Let me tell you, nostalgia is so bittersweet. My heart wants nothing more than to go back, now as an adult to our house in the British country side. We lived about 10 minutes outside Bury St. Edmunds, which we would frequent every chance we got, as it is full of livelihood like London, without the hustle and bustle of a big city. Bury St. Edmunds is about 35 minutes to the left of Cambridge and, nearly an hour and a half above London. We would wake up on any given morning and walk down the long, misty, gravel covered driveway and make our way down the dirt road, all bundled up, to a park in the middle of the field adjacent to the road. The house we lived in was a rather large, ivy covered, brick cottage. It was two stories high with a long circular drive way, a rose garden, a huge tennis court, and about 100 feet from the back door was a medium sized lake that a family of swans would swim around on. You get more bang for your buck when you don’t live in a big city, or romanticized place like California, or New York. In the winter it would snow and we would build snowmen *queue the song* outside, or skate around in puddles of water that had frozen solid overnight. I went to primary school in a little catholic academy in Bury st. Edmunds. We had to dress up in uniform, ties, blazers and all. We would travel to London on the weekends and walk for hours admiring the town. It was a dream, faraway now, but I am determined to go back. I have watched home videos lately from our time there and it makes me want to travel back so badly. Bury st. Edmunds and Cambridge are first on my Bucket List. While we’re near, stay and play in London for a day or two before making our way from Heathrow to Glasgow. Edinburgh, Scotland, then to Inverness. More often than I would like, my choices for places I want to travel to, have been influenced by Movies & Television. Film is such a big part of my life, its hard to not have it influence a lot of the travel decisions I make, wanting to go somewhere, purely for the nostalgic feelings I would get being there, and remembering the film or television show that influenced me to visit. My mother and I are lovers of Scotland for many reasons, Starz Outlander being a good 2/3rds of that reason. If you know, you know. I am a huge fan of good beer and great conversation, as many people from Scotland are. Also the pubs and the nightlife in Edinburgh are said to be awesome. Plus with my red hair, I mean, it’s just beckoning me to visit. Next on my Bucket list is traveling to Stockholm, Sweden. I am a lover of Coffee, and if you know a bit about the swedes, they have Fika, which is essentially, a break in your day, to sit with friends or loved ones, and drink coffee with sweets. I can get down with that. I’m also a fan of a certain, well-known, Swedish acting family. I have talked about Sweden a lot on my blog, because of the cities aesthetic, so I am planning on carving out 4 or 5 days to spend there. Next, being german myself, I have always been drawn to the country, I would especially love to go around the Holidays, as they have Christmas markets. If you’re a shopaholic and foodie, like me, it’s a must visit. Though when I picture myself traveling, it would have to be to Munich in early October to visit during the infamous Oktoberfest. I would probably sit around and stare at all the people (thousands of people travel to Munich every cal for Oktoberfest), and listen to the folk music in full Dirndl, braids and all all whilst in a Soft Pretzel coma accompanied by all the Doppelbock I could drink. Sounds like heaven to me. A little history behind Oktoberfest, incase you thought its just about eating and drinking, which it totally is btw, in the 1500’s some lawmakers in Bavaria were like “Hey, you can’t brew beer from april to september or else some wild bacteria and gross yeast will grow and we need to have some quality assurance here, so only the cooler months” aka October through the winter season. Besides Munich in October, I have wanted to visit the Nueschwanstein castle, one of the most gorgeous and ornate, castles in Bavaria that I have ever seen (on the internet.) tucked away in german countryside. It is said that the Nueschwanstein castle is the same castle that Walt Disney drew inspiration from when creating Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. With gorgeous country sides, coastal towns, and hip, fast cities, Berlin being #1 on my list, *cough cough* Atomic Blonde, Germany is a priority. Another big one, possibly the biggest on my list is Iceland. When I say its a dream of Iceland, I am not kidding. Several times I have had actual dreams of standing on a black sand beach looking out to the crystal blue water, watching massive ice chucks float near the shore. For year I have wanted to float in their famous natural hot spring in Grindavik, The Blue Lagoon. No actual movie influence here, just in awe of its natural cinematic beauty. I have thought of all the Film footage, Photography, and Instagram photos I could capture while visiting Iceland. Absolutely Top 5.

Next would be France. For many cities and reasons other than the quintessential but beautiful paris, which I have traveled to before when I lived in England. I have old friends that live in Paris and the South of France, Camille & Marie, if you read this, tu me manques, bisous. I am totally obsessed with coffee, I would probably go to Paris just to visit as many Cafés as I could. I am also a history NERD. Just a mere obsession with French history. 1449? English defeat in Orleans by Joan of Arc and troops. Dunkirk Beach. July 14th 1789? The storming, and burning of The Bastille. Uhhh… Château de Versailles. So many historical sites to visit, it would be a hay day. Last but certainly not least, Venice Italy. I could go on about the Food, Art, Music, and could go on for longer about how it was, next to Florence, one of the main birthplaces of the Italian renaissance, but I’ll just say this, The Tourist. If you haven’t watched it, you need too. Stunning graphics, and cinematography. Plus Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie.

Okay so to recap so far, we have, Bury St. Edmunds, Cambridge, & London in England, Scotland, Sweden, Germany, Iceland, France, & Italy.

  1. London, England.
  2. Bury St. Edmunds, England.
  3. Inverness, Scotland.
  4. Scottish Highlands, UK.
  5. Sodermalm, Stockholm, Sweden.
  6. Oldtown, Stockholm.
  7. Café somewhere in Germany.
  8. Neuschwanstein Castle, Bavaria.
  9. Road in Iceland.
  10. Black sand beach, Iceland.
  11. Blue Lagoon, Iceland.
  12. Balcony somewhere in Paris.
  13. Le Tabac De La Sorbonne, Paris, France.
  14. Venice, Italy.
  15. Grand Canal, Venice, Italy.

For now, Internationally, that is all that is on my list, but I’m sure I’ll be adding new places soon. Inside the US, a couple of places that I’ve been itching to travel too, Los Angeles. A film capital. As a California resident, yes, I have been there many times before, but it is more of a yearly tradition to go there, that a new travel expedition. If anything I would be going to cross it off for 2018, but instead I might visit another film capital like Atlanta, GA, or Vancouver, BC. Next is Portland, Oregon, and  Seattle, Washington. Ah the PNW. Foggy, über trendy, and oh so nostalgic. I could not pin point the nostalgia that I feel for the PNW if I tried. It just has that vibe.  I figured they are so close, I might as well go to both. New York is next on the US list. I am thinking about going there for my Birthday this year. I think that would be fabulous, waking up in New York on my birthday. Again, about being a foodie, NEED TO GO. You already know I’m going to hit up By Chloe while I’m there.

Well, I hope you guys enjoyed this little nostalgic trip back in time, and My Travel Bucket List, I will update you all on any coming ventures outside of my lovely little Sacramento, and be sure to write some posts and Vlog about it as I will soon be linking my YouTube to my blog.

XOXO, Chloe

Monochromatic

I have loved monochromatic outfits since I was young. Mixing neutral tones, or pairing the same tones is pretty much my favorite way to style myself and others. I adore all black, all white, and most neutrals in between, though I love the occasional pop of red, or splash of pastel. I have decided that this is what I will mostly feature in my fashion posts. It has such a clean, organized feel to it, I have always admired other bloggers and stylists, that work with photographers that can capture the essence of a monochromatic outfit. My favorite blogger would hands down be @FIGTNY. She truly knows her way around black, white, and grey, and really puts thought into the outfits that she styles and the content that she creates. As I mentioned in one of my Instagram posts, I admire Swedish style, & architecture because it is usually monochromatic. I put together a monochromatic outfit the other day and figured I would share it. Since I wear stuff like this all the time it slipped my mind to post about it, and I am guilty of having this preconceived thought that being a fashion blogger, means posting something new, trendy, and colorful, as that is what I see, not all, but a lot of fashion bloggers post. I will definitely learn a lot on this journey, but for now I am learning what it means to post the content that I want, and share my personal style, not the style that I think will get me the most “likes ” on Instagram, or what others want to see.

Now, to the outfit!

Shirt: Cropped white, off-the-shoulder, basic tee. I’ve worn this with so many different things, and can use it in different styles, and that is why I only love four main colors in my wardrobe. Also the shirt is sheer, so I had to decide if the bra being shown was important to me or not, and I decided, not. To everyone who feels the urge to tell me they can see my bra showing through the shirt, I say to you… Enjoy 🙂

Skirt: Nasty Gal lace up front, leather,  mini skirt. Thrifted this for a mere $6. Can you believe it? I was pretty excited.

Shoes: Black pumps from Forever 21. Simple, yet pulls the outfit together.

Coat: Thrifted this one as well. I’m a big lover of vintage thrift shops and consignment stores. The original brand is London Fog. It is mixed Black and White material woven like salt and pepper almost resembling television static.

Earrings: Bauble Bar. Purchased at Anthropologie.

Glasses: My newest obsession is over these glasses. I featured them in my ‘What’s in my Bag’ post, if you haven’t already read it, you should. They were $12.

Again, I just feel this happiness with blogging now, and as if this pressure was taken off my shoulders to make my blog like everyone else’s, or reminiscent of. Its definitely not what blogging should be about. Very excited to share my Style, Inspiration, and Outfits with everyone reading.

XOXO, Chloe

New Years Eve

New Year, New Clothes.

I feel as though every year, in December, we get so swept up in the holidays, and the year coming
to a close that when December 28th rolls around we scramble like mad men to plan a party for the night of December 31st.
It can get stressful. Trust me, I know. So in order to make it a little easier for you, I came up with 3 outfit Ideas for New Years Eve, that will work for the Classy one, the Edgy one, and the Vintage doll.

nye2

Outfit #1 : The Classy One

Dress: This dress is my absolute fave. I love the MOD 60’s style cut, with the modern twist being it is COVERED in
gold sequins. It is from Tobi.com, I love this shop’s party dresses, so much glitz and glam. Mine doesn’t have sleeves,
but this one is identical, except it has 3 quarter sleeves.

Earrings: These earrings totally tie in with the MOD theme, adding a bit of detail and dazzle to the outfit.
They are drop earrings the hang about 2 inches from your earlobe. They are rose gold and so cute on.

Shoes: The shoes I chose to pair with this outfit, Ive owned for about a year. I purchased them at Forever 21.
They were Patent Leather, Nude, 2 strap, mock Disco Platform heels. Quite a pair. These are faux suede and would be just a cute.

Outfit #2: The Edgy One

Shirt: 3 words. Sequined covered Peplum. This shirt is ah-mazing. Not only is it cute for a party, but next to dressing it up,
you can dress it down, or lower. I paired this glittery top with hoop earrings, ripped jeans and my favorite pair of Chelsea ankle boots.

Tops

Jeans: Black. Ripped jeans. Need I say more?

https://www.forever21.com/us/shop/Catalog/Product/F21/bottom_jeans/2000267182/01?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=WP%20-%20Shopping%20-%20Brand&utm_term=4582764465369027&utm_content=All%20Products

Chelsea: Recently purchased my dream shoes, NBD. But Really, I’m seriously in love with these boots. Talk about versatility, these boots take the cake,
and the frosting, and the sprinkles. The cherry on top? They were only $40, ACME better watch out.

http://www.charmingcharlie.com/sleek-patent-pointed-boots.html#color=black

Hoops: Also from Charlies.

nye13

Outfit #3: The Vintage Doll

Dress: I’ve owned this gorgeous vintage Gatsby style dress for ages. I originally purchased it from Abercrombie & Fitch for $72. It is a light pink, chiffon, mini
dress with intricate beading detail on the top, giving it a glamorous 1920’s vibe, beckoning it to be danced all night in. I found a very similar dress for only $16 more.
This one is almost a dead ringer, to about the knee, but with more beading down the dress. If I didn’t already have 3 outfits for New Years Eve, I would be purchasing this
dress myself.

https://www.unique-vintage.com/1920s-style-cream-gold-beaded-deco-illusion-short-flapper-dress.html

Shoes: Simple, yet chic. Less is more, as they say.

http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pcid=5151&vid=1&pid=226093152

nye16

It is safe to say all of these outfits keep the 3 most important things in New year eve outfit, in check.

1. Convenience: AKA sequins are spill proof my friends, or at least an easy wipe.
2. Trends: This is like the one event a year where you can dress as glamorous and crazy as you want with out people staring at you, as if you were crazy. Well except for New York
Fashion Week. And Paris Fashion Week. And Milan Fashion Week. But that’s not the point.
3: Dancing Shoes: All three pairs of these shoes are some of my personal favorites because of the combined style and comfort when wearing them for long periods, I mean you will be
dancing all night long, right?
May the music be loud, the night be long, and your glass never empty.

Happy New Year, Dolls.
XOXO, Chloe

Whats in my Bag?

Whats in my Bag.

I don’t know about you, but these are absolutely one of my favorite posts to read, and videos to watch.
Maybe I’m nosey, but I get so much inspiration from these. I love seeing what products, beauty items, and other bits and bobs people carry around with them on the day-to-day, so I figured I would give it a shot.

WIMB 1

First off, my actual bag. I was tired of carrying around a tote this summer so I went on the hunt for a little black backpack. While at a Thrift shop in Santa Barbara, I found an adorable little black leather backpack with a twist latch for $10. I grabbed it without another thought and bought it, and upon later inspection for what brand it was, I discovered it was an Authentic Coach bag, original tags, print and all. I was Psyched. It quickly became my go to bag. It is medium-sized, has double straps, is charcoal black leather, which matches everything, and has a ton of space for such a little backpack.

WIMB 2 coach bag

Inside I always carry around a notebook. I prefer to jot down notes, info, and plans on paper, so I can
go back and reference them rather than using say an iPhone notepad. It’s always handy to keep one of these because you never know when creativity will strike you. I am constantly at a coffee shop, grocery store, or out and about and get new blog post ideas, and video ideas and I love having a note-book handy so I can just jot the ideas down. I just got this adorable black one as a gift from my grandmother. The front is covered in what appears to be boarding times for different destinations. It is from the brand Moleskine.

WIMB 6 notebook

Next few items would be, 1. These fab Steve Madden frames I just purchased. These glasses are big, which I adore, and matte black, which is my favorite color/texture combo.

WIMB 5 sm glasses

2. New “Black” fragrance mist and hand cream from Bath & Body works. These are from their Cosmic collection. This fragrance has hints of Sandalwood, notes of vanilla, and musk. Not to mention the fact that they are totally
aesthetically pleasing, but the best part is that B&B does not test on animals, so all of their products are cruelty free. We love a woke, affordable, and caring company.

WIMB 4 b&b Black fragrances

3. Lipstick. Along with a tube of Rosebud Salve, that you will never see me without, I
always carry a lipstick with me so if on a whim, I decide that I need to do myself up a little more, simply reapply what
I was wearing, or even change the shade, I have at least two options with me. The one pictured is Mac Cosmetics’ Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick
in the shade “Feels so Grand”.

WIMB 3 mac retro matte lip cream

Last but not least I carry my phone with me, pretty much always, with a black case.
Sensing a theme yet?

Let me know in the comment section some of the items you always have in your bag!
XOXO, Chloe

Fall Apology🍂

Hey Blog, viewers, and anyone that happens to read this. I’m sorry. I’ve been slacking. My summer was crazier than I could put into words. Long story short. Graduation, Contacted for a paid internship in Santa Barbara, California, Hired, moved all of my (small) life down there, 3 months for the summer, fun times, wonderful and happy memories, moved home just in time for autumn. I have had such a pleasant autumn so far. I have gone apple picking, pumpkin patch peeping, and begrudgingly went on a hay ride, which I regretted afterwards because of my allergies. I wore so many cute outfits on those adventures. I have been slowly collecting cute autumn and winter staple pieces since late July. I am glad now, because I have had such great times mixing and matching staple pieces and minimal pieces. I can confidently say I have been able to find my style. Surely, like many others it is a mix of eras, and it makes me so happy. Throwback to those middle school days when all I wore was Aeropostale… yikes😳. I used to despise my parents for taking me to go thrift shopping with them and looking for hours through consignment stores. I was little and bored but now, I live for it. It’s like a treasure hunt and I am always so excited when I find a vintage treasure. Patting myself on the back here, I was at a Thrift store over the summer, in Santa Barbara, and was looking to find a cute black backpack to use as a bag. Found one that was a very simple, minimal leather backpack with a little gold turning clasp. I pad $10.00 for it. Two days later I went out to dinner with my sister. She walked up to our table and had a bag the same as my backpack but it was an olive green purse. She informed me that mine was a vintage Coach bag just like hers, and to my surprise I opened the bad and there it was. I could have died happy there. A big change for the fall time. I have died my hair Ginger. I say ginger because red, and orange, make me think of Haley Williams, not that there is anything wrong with Paramore (big fan🙋🏼🙈) but I was going more for ‘girl from Scotland’. I feel it’s a great choice for autumn, and strangely, I feel like me. Like who I am supposed to be. I haven’t known anything else other than blonde my whole life, so it was a hard change, and I will miss my blonde hair, and I’m sure I’ll come around full circle once more, but for now I am so excited to journey through life with this color, and transition to brown, and maybe even black. Well that is all for now, hope you enjoyed this little read/ autumn update.
